Leon J. Baker

Leon J. Baker, 68 of Samaria, MI, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, October 27, 2013 in his home. Born November 10, 1944 in Port Huron, MI, he was the son of Gaylord and Pauline (Radatz) Baker. He married Bonnie Bachman on September 23, 1967 in Port Huron, MI. Leon was a Michigan State Trooper for 33 years, and during that time assisted in the birth of a baby in the patrol car. He also received the honor of Trooper of the Year in 1988 from the exchange club of Monroe, MI, retiring in 2001. He then worked for the Luna Pier, MI Police Dept. from 2001-2011. Leon was an active member of Rapha Christian Center (Harmony House)

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Bonnie. Daughters, Michele (Brent) Baker-Turvey and Kimberly Ann (Chris) Fargo. Grandchildren, Saxon, Avian, Carston, Dakota, Tyler and Elizabeth. Mother, Pauline Baker. Brother, Terry (Bobbie) Baker.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Bedford Memorial Gardens.
